MancBeth launch featuring Rowetta, DJ Jon Dasilva, Maria Uzor & friends Tickets

Two legendary names from Manchester’s music scene, Rowetta from The Happy Mondays and DJ Jon Dasilva will be joining this extended launch night for the brand new Shakespeare themed electronic musical experience Mancbeth.

Rowetta will be performing an exclusive personal selection of Joy Division tracks with the Peter Hook endorsed band Shadowplay.

Jon Dasilva, the resident DJ at the legendary FAC51 Hacienda club will be the special guest DJ playing a mix of his current favourite tracks and Hacienda classics.

Mancunian electronic producer Octavia Freud & The Weird Sisters will be performing live electronic bangers from his hit debut album Mancbeth. He will be joined by the vocal talents of Emma Hunter, Mila Todd, The Bobo, Cate Debu, Pet Twin and Rowetta will join the band to perform the emotional musical finale.

The Mancbeth concept album is based on Mancunian David Lemberg’s original screenplay, which updates the famous ‘Scottish play’ 400 years to the early 90’s rave years by setting it in a Manchester acid house club called Glam-iz; loosely based on The Hacienda. The tracks follow Macbeth’s progress from night club owner, drug dealer and murderer and his DJ wife Lady M as she plots to kill crime boss Duncan so they can become the new King and Queen of the city.

“A glorious kaleidoscope of electronic music. ‘Mancbeth’ is a triumph.” Nightshift magazine “Playful, subversive and tongue-in cheek amidst all the necessary darkness it is encased in warped disco, house and techno. The whole work is rife with electronic oddities and treasures.” OMS magazine

Actor Brian Gorman will recreate the Macbeth’s fictional nightclub Glam-iz for the evening by being the MC. He will be reprising his role as Factory records boss Tony Wilson from his hit show, ‘New Dawn Fades’ to introduce the acts and describe how the euphoric Madchester years came to a bloody end under the Macbeth’s reign.

Maria Uzor will bring her vibrant dark-wave mutant electronic vocal post-punk style as the main support act with a set of songs taken from her latest critically acclaimed album, ‘Soft Cuts’.

Electronic duo Means of Production open proceedings with their impressively tight acid house grooves and live projected brutalist visuals set.

The Glam-iz resident DJ for this unique immersive musical experience will be electronic producer Tiger Mendoza.
