Having been a bastion of Mancunian social life for innumerable years, The Castle Hotel on Oldham Street has at last re-opened its doors to welcome punters back in with open arms! The Grade 2 listed building, which is over 200 years old, is as much a favourite with traditional ale drinkers and Northern Quarter residents as it is with young students and musicians frequenting the area.
The pub's tiled frontage, decorative bar and Victorian Fixtures and fittings have even caught the eye of historical experts at the nationwide trust that is English Heritage. The organisation is now involved in with the brewery and new owners to fully restore the 'back room', most prominently known for impromptu gigs from the likes of Elbow, Stephen Fretwell and innumerable local favourites. Once the works are complete, the space will again be available for more
brilliant music programming, dining, craft and vinyl sales and more.
